MARCH 2004

Thursday, 11th: 11:00 a.m. Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of the late Mr Allan Leslie Collyer, of this parish, who died last Friday

 

JULY 2004

Sunday, 18th: 9:00 a.m. Holy Communion and Baptism.

The Celebrant and Preacher will be Bishop Richard Appleby.  He is now the Bishop of the Northern Region, Archdiocese of Brisbane,  and is a former Bishop of the Northern Territory.

Monday, 19th: Death of Mrs Linda Gleadell, a foundation member of St Michael and All Angels' Church. Alison Linda Marie Gleadell was born on the 26th April 1914, and was the widow of the late Mr Clive William Gleadell. Before the church's services were held at their present site, they were held in the Gleadells' garage in Rennison Street, Beaumaris. The Gleadell Room in the present church building was named after the couple in honour of their long and valued service to St Michael's.

Friday, 23rd: 10:30 a.m. Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of the late Mrs Linda Gleadell, a foundation member of St Michael and All Angels', who died at the Kingston Centre, Cheltenham, on Monday, 19th July 2004.

 

NOVEMBER 2004

Thursday, 18th: 6:45 - 9:30 p.m., Tenth and last of the ten Thursday evening Alpha Course sessions at St Michael's on "What is the point of life?", "What relevance does Jesus have for our lives today?" and other such questions. Linda and Clive Gleadell: The Gleadells' names were listed among 14 names of recently deceased members on a page of the 2004 Annual Report of the National Trust of Australia, with the following citation, "Linda and Clive Gleadell were active members of the Friends of Labassa for many years and Linda established the Labassa Tea Room and did most of the cooking. But as the grand-daughter of John Augustus Bernard Koch, she had an even longer association. Koch was the architect who delivered owner Alexander Robertson's dream in 1890 to build the most magnificent house in Melbourne. Clive passed away in May 2003 and Linda in July 2004". Among the 12 other members listed was the former Premier, Sir Rupert Hamer, and the former Governor, Hon. Richard McGarvie.
