
The photograph shows, standing in front of the newly opened building, from left to right, the owner of the garage that had housed the church until December 1952, Mr Clive Gleadell; the Vicar, Rev. Robert Dann, who later became Archbishop of Melbourne; his wife, Mrs Yvonne Dann; Mrs Linda Gleadell; and the Archbishop of Melbourne, the Most Rev. Dr Joseph Booth. The building became part of the Church Hall when the present church was opened.
Highlights of that first year were a Special Coronation Family Service on Trinity Sunday; Holy Communion on Coronation Day, 2nd June 1953; the first marriage (David Coombes and Julianne Walker); and the confirmation of 37 candidates by Bishop John McKie.
The recorded attendance at the dedication was 502 people. A polished stone plaque on the west wall of the building is inscribed:
