Traditional owners
We recognise the Bunurong people of the Kulin nation as the traditional owners and custodians of the lands on which we meet and acknowledge their continuing connection to their land, waterways and culture. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging. We pray that in the power of the Holy Spirit we might all work together for reconciliation and justice in this nation.
Who are we?
St Michael’s folk are a diverse bunch from Beaumaris and surrounding suburbs. There are folk who have been part of the church for many decades and some who have joined us in the last 12 months. There are great-grandparents and toddlers. We are at St Michael’s together because exploring the Christian faith unites us. We are committed to love and care for our community, and to encourage each other to grow in understanding of what it means to follow Jesus and live as Christians.
What do we believe?
We believe in God, who created our universe and created us in his image, in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, and in the Holy Spirit sent by Jesus to guide and empower us. Sin and brokenness entered God's good creation and has wreaked havoc in our world and our lives. We believe that God, through his Son, is working out his plan to restore the goodness he made, and that every day we are working hand in hand with him to bring that goodness to life in our church, in the Beaumaris community and in the world. We believe that the Bible is God's word and we strive to be "planted" in it and guided by it as we journey in faith, empowered by God's Holy Spirit. With Anglicans and other Christians all over the world, we celebrate the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion.
How do we grow in faith?
Sunday's worship service is central to who we are as God's people, and it's where we are together as His people in His presence, worshipping Him and learning about Him. We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God and is living and active in our lives as we read and study God's story found in it. We find that in the words of Scripture, God is revealed through his Son, Jesus Christ, and we are changed to grow more and more like Him as we seek to practise and implement His teachings, empowered by his Holy Spirit. We live in friendship and community and learn to follow Jesus together.

How are we involved in the world?
We support the vision and work of God in Beaumaris, in Melbourne, in Victoria, nationally and overseas. We remember that Jesus calls us to "love God and love others". Locally we support local families through our playgroup and make our church halls available for hire by community groups, and for meetings and functions. We give our talents, our time, and our money to further God’s kingdom through Anglican and other agencies that reach into many parts of Australia and overseas - we're connected with organisations such as CMS, Grace Heart Community Church in Highett, Mothers' Union, Nungalinya College in the NT, the Anglican Board of Mission, Barnabas Fund, Bush Church Aid and the Christmas Bowl.
