A coronation event
Our May meeting was a thoughtful and enjoyable time of acknowledging the coronation of the new king and queen. We enjoyed coronation quiche, queen cakes and made coronation bookmarks. Our MU prayer at this coronation event:
Almighty God, on this joyous occasion we, the members Mothers' Union, offer prayers for the reign of King Charles III. May the wisdom of God, the love of Christ and the power of the Spirit guide him ot govern with righteousness, that all may live in peace and harmony. We pray your blessing on the King, the Queen and the Royal Family as they share in the privilege and responsibilities of service. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. |
Activism against gender-based violence
Prompted by the UN program, ‘16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence’, Mothers’ Union joins with thousands of other organisations to raise awareness of the campaign against Gender-Based Violence (GBV). GBV is one of the most widespread violations of human rights. It can affect any person at any time; it takes place in many forms; it spans many societies. It can be part of a culture’s social norms; it can be hidden behind closed doors. Whatever form it takes, GBV is unacceptable. We strive to do all we can to end it.
Pray that the action of many will help shine a light into the darkness. John Wesley said “Prayer is where the action is.” So let us be assured that prayer is also the ‘real work’! Our prayers will make a difference as we petition our righteous God. James 5:16 states that when a believing person prays, great things happen. As believing people, let us make the most of God’s open door to us and pray with faith for gender justice. |

Wave of Prayer
The annual MU Wave of Prayer was held on Tuesday 2nd August. The order of service for our Anglican Diocese of Melbourne MU groups was compiled by our very own Margaret Goode, who is the MU secretary for the diocese. We prayed for our affiliated groups across the world and were grateful to be able to be in touch with our friends in Carlisle, UK. |
